Two-Part Training System

Part 1: Foundations Level Course (Online)

Approximate Duration: 5 Hours

The online foundations course provides the essential knowledge required before attending the practical component. Topics include:

Close Protection Roles and Responsibilities

Introduction to Physical Intervention Techniques

Successful participants complete a final assessment and receive a certificate.

Part 2: Specialist Program (In Person)

Duration: 2 Days

The in-person specialist component transforms knowledge into capability.

Participants work through practical exercises designed to reinforce and apply concepts learned during the online program.

This portion of the program is almost exclusively practical. Participants will take what they have learned in the online program and build off of it. They will build individual and team skills, in a progressive and professional environment.

Module 1: Close Protection Foundation for Success

Review critical concepts while establishing the mindset and standards required for professional excellence. Instruction is delivered by current operational close protection professionals.

Participants further develop practical skills including:

Close Protection Formations and Movement
Operational Tactics
VIP Arrivals and Departures
Protective Site Advances

Module 2: Physical Intervention Techniques

Learn focused techniques designed to help protectors and teams respond to threats against VIPs. Training is suitable for both experienced operators and those newer to protective operations.

Module 3: Confirmation Exercise and Assessment

The course concludes with practical confirmation exercises designed to reinforce key concepts and ensure participants can effectively apply what they have learned.

In this final module, participants will be provided a VIP Itinerary, be required to conduct their own operational planning, and then conclude with a real world training exercise that incorporates course content.

The program concludes with a written exam.

Successful graduates receive the Close Protection Site Liaison Specialist Certificate.
